Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and Mountaineering Federation of Georgia

Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and Mountaineering Federation of Georgia at the Government of the A/R of Abkhazia.

The Memorandum refers to the issue of the naming the one of the top Caucasus Mountains after Zhiuli Shartava The first national hero of Georgia killed in the war of Abkhazia.

According to the Acting Chair of Government of the A/R of Abkhazia in connection with the 75th anniversary of Zhiuli Shartava in order to immortalize his name, The Federation of Mountaineers of Georgia considers to name after Zhiuli Shartava to one of the peaks of the Caucasus. I strongly believe that this fact will have great heroic importance to our society, and youth. Besides that, the fact has a great socio-political liability, since the name of Zhiuli Shartava is permanently linked to the tragedy of Abkhazia. The naming after Zhiuli Shartava the top of the mountain can become a symbol of our country's unification. A lot of Georgian and foreigner mountaineers will climb the top and this will develop mass alpinism and mining tourism. And will promote a healthy lifestyle and other good things that characterize an alpinism. But before all these things happen, it is necessary to send a special group of climbers to the East Caucasus to select the peak, as well as to determine the road to the complexity of certain categories. The memorandum envisages a variety of measures to attract and attract massive peers. I think everything will be organized and this extraordinary project will be successful. I would like to thank to all who participated in the development of this project ".

The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Manana Kvachakhia and the President of the Georgian Mountaineers Federation, Shota Mirianashvili.
