The Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Embassy of Georgia to the Arab Republic of Egypt held a joint press conference for local media in Cairo

A press conference for leading Egyptian internet and print media representatives at the Embassy of Georgia in Cairo, capital of Egypt was held. Vakhtang Kolbaia, the Acting Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia spoke with media representatives about the ongoing events in the occupied Abkhazia, facts including violations of fundamental human rights, namely prohibition of education in Georgian language and restriction of free movement. As well as, the problems related to the protection of cultural heritage in the occupied territories, were emphasized the importance of Georgian-Abkhazian dialogue in conflict resolution issues.

They highlighted the peace initiative proposed by the Georgian government regarding the occupied territories "Step for a Better Future" that includes multiple programs and will improve the economic situation of the population living in the occupied territories and the IDPs.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Arab Republic of Egypt Alexander Nalbandov thanked and voiced gratitude to the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi and the Egyptian government for their country's firm and unwavering support to Georgia's territorial integrity.

At the meeting presentation of the Arabic translation of the book "Abkhazia/Georgia: History, Politics and Culture" of the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of A/R of Abkhazia, Professor Jemal Gamakharia was held. The book was presented by the authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Ivane Dolidze and Representatives of the Embassy of Georgia to the Arab Republic of Egypt attended the event.
