The evening dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of Amridon Chegiani held at Valeri Arkania Art Gallery

The evening dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of Amridon Chegiani held at Valeri Arkania Art Gallery of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. Presentation of poetry poems "Selected" was presented at the evening.

Creative Union of Georgian writers awarded Amiron Chegiani with Akaki Tsereteli Prize for years of work and merit in creative terms. Also, the Union of Humanitarian Services for the reconciliation and support of the families of those killed in the conflict of Abkhazia, "Dioskuria 2005", famous poet and public figure Amridon Chegiani elected as the honorary president of "Dioskuria 2005" and awarded with the "golden star of the peace and the flag" of Chest of Medals.

State Academic Ensemble of Abkhazian Song and Dance performed Georgian-Abkhazian songs at the evening.

The Acting Chair of Government of the A/R of Abkhazia, Vakhtang Kolbaia, Chair of the Supreme Council of the A/R of Abkhazia, Elguja Gvazava, Deputies of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Chairman of the Georgian Writers' Union Makvala Gonashvili, writers, public figures, friends and relatives of the poet attended the evening.

Amridon Chegiani was born on September 10, 1938 in the village of Khalde, Mestia. In 1957 graduated from the secondary school of Gudauta village Othkhara. He studied at the Faculty of Philology of Sokhumi Pedagogical Institute.

In 1978 the poet's first book, "Truth" was published. In the following years his other collections were published. In 2015 Amiridon Chegiani published a book entitled "Russia-Georgia War in Abkhazia".
